I agree!

I guess this will depend on the laptop case we will be using

A numeric keypad is nice to have indeed and it can be present as the current specs define a 15" laptop. Although, this will depend on which case will be used at the end.

That is interesting but I think that the motherboard, with its current specs, won't fit in a small tablet case.
Roberto should confirm that.

I have a suggestion for a name my suggestion is:cybercube or powercube

I have added them to the list!

Hey Vox, I have added a couple of entries to the poll. You may be able to update your vote?

Actually, when I talk about open hardware design, I am only talking about form factor. Just the same as what the ATX specifications would define.
I am not talking about motherboard components.

As finding a case for the laptop seems to be quite difficult, I would like to propose some alternatives (Inspired from the Novena and Raspberry Pi)

The keyword for this laptop is "Freedom" so what about a hardware design that would let you choose what your hardware would be or look like.

The idea would be to have a motherboard with standard design specifications that would be open. (Does it already exist for laptops?)

Then, if we decide to do a crowd funding campaign at some point, we can have a few options :

- The motherboard and components are sold as a kit by themselves. You can download the specifications / 3D models of the case to build one yourself.

- The laptop is sold with a basic case (3D printed or from an existing laptop).

- Just like for the Novena, we find an artist who would do a limited edition of an amazing case.

I think the point of this idea would be to have a standard design that would be open and that any manufacturer or DIYer would have access to to make great things.
We may need to define one if it doesn't exist.

Also, I suggest that our hardware design to be compatible with the FSF criteria for libre hardware

All this is just an idea to be discussed.

I have added PowerTop to the poll as PowerBook refers to existing computers. Even if they are not built anymore, there still are many powerbooks around.

how about just "?"-ower (ie, power but using the greek letter for 'pi' instead?)

This one seems to get some interest. How would you pronounce it?

It sounds good! Good luck with your presentation!
Please let us know how it went.

I have added  ?-ower

so what you guys think about "iPPCLinux" ?

I am not too keen on this name but I have added it to the poll! ;) People can vote for it.

@chdrsto, personally, I don't read "porn" but if others do, that would be a problem to solve with the logo. "Popcorn" not being a bad word or a word you can confuse with "porn".

I have setup a poll where you can vote for other names =>
