Aluminum chassis

has anyone considered an aluminum chassis? Do you know vendors of beautiful but unexpensive barebone PCs in aluminum?

Even more so. Bigger is the budget, smaller (in %) became the difference between the costs. In any case we are speaking about a metal used for food and beverage packaging: it's more expensive than plastic, but it's not gold.

I think chassis design should be wonderful, to make the product attractive (obviously the content too must be better than the alternatives).

Maybe the same design (or similar/compatible) could be used for making chassis in various materials.

Wood is also a very fascinating material. I didn't know Iameco: quite interesting, but a nicer design would be appreciated.

Wood, when treated correctly can also be a very versatile material. That and it's easier to replace a panel of wood then to find an aluminium panel.
